Autsch Magazin
Illustrations are what make me stop at a newsstand. Before you read a single word, an image has already told you how something feels — and that moment of connection is what I find endlessly fascinating about editorial work. Done well, illustration doesn't just decorate a page, it pulls you in and makes you want to stay.
My benchmark is the kind of magazine you don't just read — you sit down with it. Thoughtfully chosen illustrators, beautiful paper, a feeling that every detail was considered. That level of craft is what I'm working towards.
Autsch was my first real taste of it: a student magazine built around the German concept of Remmidemmi — life at its most chaotic and overwhelming. My piece was about moving to Australia, surviving the culture shock, and the quieter, stranger experience of coming home a different person. It opened a door I very much want to keep walking through. Editorial design has so much to give, and I've only just started.
